HOKA ONE ONE Mach 4

Features

Give your run an ultralight upgrade in the new HOKA ONE ONE Mach 4.

Taking inspiration from HOKA’s Carbon X and Rocket X models, the Mach 4 is built for everyday speed. Using a cushioned ProFly midsole, the Mach 4 delivers lightweight support and responsive take-offs.

The internal meta-rocker promotes quick transitions and a smooth ride. The soft midsole foam is supported by a rubberized EVA outsole for the added traction you need without adding the overall weight of the shoe.

A re-imagined upper mesh is made from heat-pressed TPU yarn that provides structured support while remaining flexible and weightless. The upper works with a refined collar shape that alleviates pressure from the Achilles and creates a robust pull tab that makes for easy wear.

Lightweight construction means unfailing responsiveness in the new HOKA Mach 4.

What's New + -

HOKA focused on creating a light, bouncy ride in the updated Mach 4. They achieved this new feel by using lightweight, responsive ProFly midsole foam and a blown EVA rubber outsole. These foams work together to create a featherlight, fast ride. The updated upper delivers the structure you need for everyday training while a newly engineered collar sports a contoured Achilles tab for ultimate comfort.

Who It's Best For + -

This neutral shoe is great for everyday training, speedwork on the road or track, or even road racing. The responsive midsole foam and lightweight upper work together to promote smooth transitions.

Why You'll Love It + -

HOKA is known for its super-cushioned feel, and the Mach 4 is no exception. The midsole foam is supportive enough that the Mach 4 can handle high-mileage training, but the shoe is also light enough that you can fly through a race. The HOKA Mach 4 offers something for everyone at every speed.

Lightweight Daily Trainer

Pretty lightweight shoe. Decent amount of cushion, but not too much as I can feel the road. Fit was true to size. There is a break in period with these shoes, for me it took about 50 miles before they felt more flexible. Hoping they do well with traction in the winter.

Mach 4

Very cushioned esp heel. A little too heavy, a little too stiff, clunky.

My favorite shoe

When I 1st read an article that the shoe was coming out and read the reviews of it, I was excited as I had not been in a hoka line for several years because they were not comfortable after the 1st generation. I ordered it the 1st day it was released and got a pair at the end of March March 2021. Since that time I have trained for a marathon, and for a 1/2 iron, and run both in that pair. I then purchased another identical pair in black, to continue running, and then purchased yet a 3rd pair of the same shoe. It's not uncommon for me to rotate between 3 pairs of shoes when running, but I have never rotated between 3 pairs of the same shoe and been happy.

Solid Performance

Extremely lightweight and great lateral support. Generally you don't find much lateral support in a running shoe. I do more than just RUN in the Mach 4 and this shoe handles business for me. Bought a second pair to keep one pair clean enough for certain situations. Awesome cushion and solid lightweight material that hugs your feet while you work.

Lightweight daily trainer

Ran in Rincon and loved it except that its midsole kind of gave in after 100+ miles. Mach 4 is also lightweight but the midsole is supposed to last longer and the outsole seems more durable than Rincon. Not only is it lightweight but provides great cushion and it is also responsive (energy return). Enjoying running in Mach 4. Of note is that I had to go down 1/2 in size. Usually wear men's size 10 but with this Hoka, I went with 9.5. I initially purchased size 10 but didn't feel comfortable as described by many YouTube reviewers. So I had it returned. Few months later, I was able to try 9.5 size shoes at a store and decided to give it another try at the half size smaller pair. So I went online (Fleet Feet) and purchased it. So glad that I gave it another try as I am really enjoying running in the Mach 4.
